The houses are completely private and situated in a quiet back street in a large village that has a restaurant, bar, a supermarket, a hairdresser, a branch of Credit Agricole bank. It is 12 miles from the town of Chatillon sue Seine, a beautiful town with bars, large supermarkets, medieval churches and museum. 15 miles from the town of Montbard which is an ancient home of the family Buffet. 15 miles from the town of Tonnere which has a rail station and TGV link to Paris approx one and a quarter hour journey. It is difficult to say what annual income from Airbnb is because we only let one house out during the time we were staying on holiday although we were receiving enquiries constantly. We were charging £100 per night for the rental house that sleeps 7 but as it could be divided into 2 with shared kitchen and bathroom as it stands more could be earned. I am now too old to do this but I was going to convert the cellars into 2nd bathroom and a second kitchen. I am now too old and have too many commitment in the UK to carry this out.
The house we spent our time in when we were there has three more than double bedrooms and 2 could be let out for b and b by a single person. Costs are hard to evaluate not having spent all of our time there but there are 2 annual taxes one local 300 euros per year and one national 490 euros per year. Water is 120 euros service charge per years with water usage on top. Electricity I cannot realistically estimate but we have a contract with EDF and they do not take much at all via direct debit as our time there is too short due to family commitments here. My wife has reminded me that it was not just attractive to holidaymakers but also to working gangs who needed accommodation to complete contracts and they would always leave the place in immaculate condition.
