"L'insurrection est vaincue!" "The rebellion vanquised !"

Large antique lithography by Victor ADAM(1801–1866) and Jules Arnoult (1814–1868). It represents the end of the terrible June 1848 Days, the Parisian workers' uprising from 23 to 26 June 1848. The text printed under the image also specifies: "June Uprising, 26 at 10 a.m.". The scene shows government forces regaining control of the area of the faubourg Saint-Antoine, one of the last major hotbeds of resistance.

It is of greater historical interest than some more ceremonial scenes in the series: the June 1848 Days are a major event and the composition is particularly spectacular.
